Interview...
Hi Guyz, OK first Question INIMICAL has two Members (Peter, Michael) from FAITH INDUSTRIES – does that mean FI is dead now?
Yes - FI is completely dead. Actually Inimical was started from the left-overs of FI.
Your 4-track Promo CD "Lambs to the Slaughter" got awesome Reviews all over, how are things now, Record Deal in progress or what?
Yeah... we've got some really good feedback on "Lambs to the Slaughter", which is very great! The plan from the beginning was that we wanted to make this 4-track demo as a teaser and see how the crowd would react. We haven't sent the demo to any labels (yet) - but we are now writing a lot of new tracks for our first full-length album which then will be sent to different labels etc. Also - since the demo, we have a new drummer and a new lead vocal. This also changes things a bit, since the style of the new additions also has to fit in to the music style of Inimical.
"Lamb to the Slaughter“ is a brutal, mostly slow-mo Death Metal Eruption, a Statement you would agree too? Or let’s try it this way - How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard about you?
Intensive, energetic music with melodic elements and breakdowns. You could say that Inimical has a wide spectrum musically - we call ourselves a death metal/hardcore band, but there are also thrash and melodic elements in the music which only makes Inimical a more interesting band.
We're a very straight forward band, so if you're into brutal music without compromises, Inimical's the band to watch out for.
What can we expect of INIMICAL in the future – musically? More brutal? More Melodies? More …. ?
The new tracks we've written are more melodic and heavy, but we're still containing all the elements we like in our music. We still keep it brutal as the demo and we're developing our music in the same direction. You're not going to hear Inimical songs with singing choruses. We stay real and we'll keep on staying as brutal and intensive as so far.
Please tell us something about the song writing process in your band? (Who writes the song, who writes the lyrics, etc.)
we all write the music in inimical, but the lyrics is mainly done by Tan, the new singer. When we write songs someone comes up with 2 or 3 riffs and then we’ll put it together with a riff that’s made by another guy in the band. If it works and we all like it we’ll make a song out of it, if it doesn’t works we leave it and work on something else. Sometimes we go back and use some of the discarded shit.
In your own words: what are the main differences between your latest CD and your previous CD „Room No.13“?
there are a lot of new members in the band and that’s why the new material sounds very different from the old stuff. There’s a lot of different influences in the band some of us are into old school thrash metal and some are into doom death and hardcore.
The Danish Metal Scene – especially the Underground – is it alive, any remarkable Bands there – well except of INIMICAL - how is it to get underground gigs there??
yeah the metal scene is very much alive in Denmark and there’s a bands in almost every genre of metal. There are a lot of great bands in Denmark such as Crucifix, the Arcane Order and Rageborne.
Let me know your Opinion bout some well known Danish Metal Bands:
Hatesphere, Illdisposed, Mercenary, Mnemic, Volbeat
We think that Illdisposed and Hatesphere and some of the Mnemic tracks are more in our musical taste. We think the other bands are very good and skilled in what they do. Would not call Volbeat for metal - it's more like Cher.
Regarding MP3 downloads: pro or contra (please explain)?
Well there are a lot of advantages in mp3 files - it's a great opportunity for promoting ones music, in a fast and convenient way for both the listener and the musicians. We think that all bands should put out some tracks on their website - but certainly not all tracks of an album - people should still buy the cd if they like the music.
The famous last words?
Well we hope that all of you freaks like the music, and we really hope that we’ll come to Austria and play some shows and drink a lot of beers. Stay ready for our debut album - and have a great time until then.
Cheers Inimical.
Thx Guyz!
