DAY 8 and 9

… finishing Vocal Parts …
The last 3 songs … everything works good, and yes, yes we are DONE !!!
„MANO CORNUTA“, the second Album of SOLRIZE, is recorded, hell yeah …

Time to do a Partyyyyyy …
The ACE-Hotel in Palm Springs, would be a nice play to stay, so let´s go …

Hours later, the next morning … grabbing our stuff and leaving the hotel,
where we stayed more than a week … emotions are strong, when you know
it´s the last day, and it´s time to say goodbye …

… driving the last time, out into the Valley of Banning, CA … to Scott and Renee´s
Place … the SANCTUARY !!!

... it´s great if you come to record an Album, but it´s even better and probably the main reason
To be in a band: Finding people who believe in the same things than you, and become friends
With them … thats what we did !!!

Packing all our gear into the van, and now it´s time to leave, direction LAS VEGAS, thru
The Mojave desert … gonna be hot …

Thanx to everyone who made this entire project „MANO CORNUTA“ possible, especially
Stormbringer Magazine, for featuring our Studio Diary…

THANX Scott and Renee, for an absolute amazing and wonderful time … you ROCK !!!
Thanx for your hospitality, we will never forget, and see you soon … bye …

This was the Studio Diary from the Making of SOLRIZE´s 2nd Album „MANO CORNUTA“ …
… coming out soon … be prepared … HELL YEAH, 2011 !!!

Day 7

... this day starts easy !!!

Everyone slept late, and everyones relaxed … finally !!!

Taking a break today at the Studio… heading to the desert, to shoot some new Band pictures …

Scott posted on Facebook:
... OH, YEAH - MY FAVORITE THING TO DO - EDITING AND CLEANING TRACKS
WHILE THE AUSTRIANS ARE DOING A PHOTOSHOOT IN THE DES... THEY KILLED
THEIR TRACKS, THOUGH - IT'S WAY TIGHT. GONNA BE THE BEST AUSTRIAN
EXPORT SINCE FALCO! ...

The landscape out there in Yucca Valley is amazing … Giant Rock rules !!!

Thanx Biwi, for doing some pix with us …

… watch the Video of Day 7, get some really awesome impressions of California,
and be prepared for the final chapter from the Making of SOLRIZE´s 2nd Album „MANO CORNUTA“ …

Day 6

… Day 6, it´s Marco´s time … Guitar solo trax …
11 songs to go !!!
… but Marco´s doing good. Song by song, he´s rockin´ his parts and finally, after 6 days
Of recording, the main music of „MANO CORNUTA“ is tracked … well done, guys !!!
After Marco´s putting down his guitar, we are re-listening the songs, to find out, where
We maybe can add some percussion elements to the entire album …
Mike takes shaker, cowbell and other stuff to fill up the trax …
Also this one´s done …

Elvis Nine takes a break today of singing, to save the voice for the last 3 songs …

Everything went amazing … Sunset is coming in, and Yes …. Yes, we have the time to do
a Jam-Session out in the desert … and Hell Yeah, there´s someone joining us !!! Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Scott Reeder is doing an acousting song with us in the Valley …

After having a new experience with another creature out of California, the Black Bear, which was passing next to the house, and another wonderfull BBQ, we are Just setting up some microphones, and here we go … the songs called „La Casampulga“ - SOLRIZE feat. Scott Reeder … and this one´s also gonna be part of the new Album !!! …

… stay tuned for Day 7 … SOLRIZE

Day 5

… déjà vu, déjà vu … getting up in the morning, grab a cup of coffee… prepare the stuff
we need to bring to the studio, and here we go again… day after day, day same things to do…
A musicians Life !!!
One of the most amazing things here, is defenitely the weather…it doesn´t matter what time you´re
waking up, just open the curtain, and you´ll get blinded by the light… Blue Sky as far as you can see !!! hell yeah …

… Scott is already waitin´ when we arrive at the Sanctuary on Day 5… he prepared already the songs
We gonna do today… Elvis starts with some Vocal parts, followed by Marco doubling his guitar trax…

As the sunset comes in, and crickets start to make some noise, we have an idea to record some accoustic song out in the valley, infront of this awesome surrounding … just let´s finish the main songs of our 2nd album, and let´s hope we have some time left to do this „Jammin´“ in the desert … we´ll see !!!

Day 5 was pretty good … Job done… Marco finished all the doubling with the guitar, just the solo´s are missing, and Elvis has 3 more songs to sing … get it on

Leaving the studio, and Day 5 behind us, we decide to grab a Pizza at the Local Italian Restaurant.
Eating wedding soup, Lasagne and Pizza, this was the call of Day 5 …

… read more, from the making of „MANO CORNUTA“ by SOLRIZE on DAY 6

Day 4

… Day 4 started exactly, where Day 3 ended…
We continue to double guitar parts, Elvis Nine is singing some trax, everything works fine..
But on the 4th day of recording, some kind of exhaustion is comin´ in. The good thing though is, we can make a pause, and take a small rest of recording. Just one step out of the „Sancutary“, and you
are standing right in the Valley of California, where body and „ears“ can take a small break …

Basic Trax are long done, just Guitar, Voice and Percussion parts are missing… anyway, a couple of more days we have to endure… It´s really stressfull and straining to record an Album, but everyone
Out of the band, is giving the best he can, and Scott helps a lot, amazing guy … between breaks or if someone has nothing to do, everyone starts to explore the area… In an Out… walkin´ up to the Wild mustangs, playin´ a bit with „Dumper“, the domestic dog at the Sanctuary, or finding a frozen Rattlesnake in the Fridge… Killer !!!
It´s great to investigate …

Things go very well… we are perfect in time, regarding the Recording of „MANO CORNUTA“. 4 Days here, 6 trax or done with doubling the guitar, 5 songs are done by the voice … yeah

Packing all of our stuff, ready to head towards our Hotel, leaving the Studio and approaching another
„beautiful“ exemplar out of the Species: Latrodectus - - - the BLACK WIDOW !!!

… join us also on Day 5 of recording. Yours truly, SOLRIZE …

Day 3

… again just a couple hours of sleep, and back again to the Studio. There´s a lot to do …
All basic trax are done… let´s start with doubling the guitar trax, and recording the first vocal parts.
Here we go…

Everything works out very well again… Scott helps out a lot, takes a lot of pressure away from us, which again, makes recording very smooth… never happend before in our experience of being musician !!!

Hoss and Mike are kind of unemployed right now, so they join Scott in the Control Room, to help, finding the right parts and licks for the guitar, and the right Intonation for some vocal parts…

Marco did a great job with his Guitar, and Elvis Nine finished singing on 3 songs. 7 to go…
Still a lot of work to do…

After another hot, exhausting, but very succesfull day, Scott´s coming up with some really „GREAT and GOOD“ Tequila… PATRON is the name, just one word: amaaaaaazzzinnnnnnng …

Salud !!!

Day 2

… Jetlag took its toll on us. Just a couple hours of sleep, and we are heading back to the studio. Everythings already set up, so we can start to record very smoothly…
5 songs have been done on the first day, so 6 songs to go. Let´s rock …

It´s amazing how fast and good, things work out here. Totally different to our european experience of recording music. Sound check for every musical instrument, just about 1,5 hours, and we are ready to get things rollin´ … incredible !!!

„The Sanctuary“ Studio rules … the mood is really good every day, and Scott´s an awesome Sound-Engineer, Producer and Friend !!! To work with him, makes the whole project „MANO CORNUTA“ very smooth and easy going …

After another perfect day, the other 6 songs have been recorded, which means, all Basic Trax are done !!! Hell yeah …

Barbecue again in the evening. Nice T-Bone Steaks, Chicken, Vegetables and 2 BLACK WIDOW´S…
Finally we saw on of these „dangerous“ animals here … creepy, man !!! Hopefully we also get the chance to see a Rattlesnake …

That´s it for DAY 2, stay tuned for more crazy stuff out of the desert on DAY 3 …

Day 1

…after a long hard trip to Los Angeles, we arrived in Hollywood. Our hotel, which is right on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard, and just 5 minutes walking distance away from Kodak Theatre, Chinese Theatre and the Hardrock Cafe, was our first stop on our Trip to California…

Hanging around 2 days in the City of Angels, we saw Ben Stiller and Jesse Eisenberg, while eating Mexican Food in a restaurant …

… 2 exhausting days later, finally we were heading to Banning, California. A Blue Sky and 42 degrees celsius is normal here in the desert…

10 am we were leaving to Scott Reeder´s place, the „SANCTUARY“ Studio. Directly in a Valley, surrounded by mountains and a great landscape… the first thing we heard, after meeting everyone and saying hello, was „… beware of Rattlesnakes !!!“, that´s what we gonna do from now on …

First day at the „Sanctuary“ was pretty good… we set up everything. Changed the skins of the drum, tuned, found the right sounds for bass and guitar and recorded the first songs… things worked out very well, the mood is awesome, espacially the inspiration, when you take a look out of the window, while sitting in the control room …

…it´s easy to describe: you can see right into the valley where wild mustangs run around…

a nice barbecue, at sunset in the valley, with homemade tortilla´s, completed the first day of recording „MANO CORNUTA“… stay tuned for more info, and prepare for DAY 2 !!!
